Creed Week & Awards Ceremony

East Carolina University 2024 Creed Award Recipients

At East Carolina University, the Creed serves as the cornerstone of our academic and community values.  During Creed week each spring semester, students, faculty, and staff have the opportunity to recognize and celebrate peers who embody the principles outlined in our Creed.  Nominations for the Creed Awards are open to all members of the ECU community, honoring those who exemplify integrity, diversity, responsibility, and citizenship.

  • Nominations:  Accepted every February, allowing the community to recognize the individuals who best embody the values of the Creed.
  • Awards Ceremony:  Typically held in March or April.  The exact date for the ceremony will be announced soon as it is set.  Please check back for updates on the celebration of our award recipients.

Annual Remembrance & Brick Dedication Ceremony

Few events impact a campus community as deeply as the loss of a student. To honor those who have passed, East Carolina University hosts an annual Remembrance and Brick Dedication Ceremony. This event pays tribute to students who have died during the previous academic terms, providing an opportunity for family members and the campus community to celebrate their lives.

During the ceremony, families, friends, and university leaders come together to honor these students, who will forever be remembered as Eternal Pirates. The event also introduces attendees to the Student Memorial Garden, where engraved bricks commemorate the names and years of attendance of the deceased students.

The Annual Remembrance and Brick Dedication Ceremony is open to everyone in the campus community and is organized each fall semester by the Office of the Dean of Students.
